Boxes, pods, and cops

Hey, look at that!  I'm updated two times in one week!  Actually, I have some stuff to show off.  So, for starters, I'll show a few figures I've been working on the past few weeks.

A little while back, I picked up the Wargames Factory Apocalypse Survivors set.  This was the set of the men.  I think the women should be coming out fairly soon.  I actually really like this set.  There's not a ton of customization you can do since certain arms and heads are meant to go with certain bodies, but it can be done.  I love the fact that this set can not only give me kids, fat guys, and a preacher, but also generic cops and FBI types.  So, naturally the law enforcement guys were the first ones I wanted to do.  I dub them, Team Justice!
Yes, I am using the crazy guy withe the blood covered baseball bat as an FBI agent.  He cracked under the stress.  Opposing them, for now is one man.
A lone convict brandishing a machete!  He WILL protect that unlabeled soup can.  Its his!  He found it first!
Bat wielding FBI agent says otherwise!  I love posing these two opposite each other.
Here you can see how one of the cops sizes up against a GW Space Marine.  Not too badly, I'd say.

Speaking of Wargames Factory, I love their Dreamforge stuff!  Supposedly wave 2 is shipping about now, so hopefully that means they'll get off their butts and get wave 3 into production and at retail before the end of the year.  Why is that?  Because wave 3 has Space Marines!  Yep, Germanic power armored infantry.  I can't wait to get them.  Once they're out, I don't think I'll ever buy a GW Marine ever again.
I've been slowly (very slowly) working my way through their 10 rifle team box.  While the figures are awesome, they've all got what are basically MG-42s.  That is not a standard infantry weapon.  So, I'd ordered some Imperial Guard scaled weapons from Anvil Industry with the intent to rearm them and to make a pair of combat engineers for my two 5 man squads.  Here's how the first one came out.
My camera didn't capture it too well, but I actually camouflaged this guy and he looks pretty bad ass in person.

Now, I actually got something new today.  As an experiment with the material, I had ordered some MDF scenery from a place called Warsenal.  I've never worked with the stuff before, so like I said, this was an experiment.  So, I'd ordered two things, a small cargo container and a single escape pod.  Now, I know I ordered the single and my bill says as much, but they actually gave me, get this, 12 of them!  Crazy.  I've put two together and while they're very flat looking and boxy, I actually really like them.  So, pictures.
Here we have a so-so picture of the container.  All four sides look the same and there's some detailing on the top panel and the bottom panel.  You may notice those nubs sticking up.  The door panels actually pull up so you can open the thing up (you can also replace the doors with ones that have symbols etched into them)
As you can see, plenty of room for a figure inside.  Or several.  The convict seems to have claimed it and the cops are here do evict him.  See that thing off to the right?
Those are the escape pods.  Like I said, very flat and boxy, but I can't help but like them.
Size compared to some figures.  Now, as with the container, the door actually can be removed from the pod and a figure can be placed inside.
Here a pair of 1/48 VOTOMS figures model that for you.  As you can see, there isn't a whole lot of room in the pod.  While you can fit a guy in there, he'll need a pretty neutral stance and he can't be based.  But, if you have such a figure, like these two, you can actually fit him inside and close the pod.
These will be nice little objective markers for Deadzone.

Overall, I really like the things.  Very simple to put together.  The container isn't using any glue, but the escape pods need it.  The nice thing though is that they can be put together with plain old Elmer's white glue.  A nice little feature with the escape pods is that Warsenal allows you to choose what color you'd like the window to be.  It's really just a little piece of clear acrylic, but I like the touch it brings.  I haven't painted these yet, obviously.  Depending on how easy/hard that goes will determine whether or not I ever get any more MDF stuff.
